GazeRecorder used for analysis of the ELPID platform
Nikola Horvat, PhD student from the University of Zagreb, tried out various existing eye-tracking tools in order to explore their functionalities to analyse benefits of the proposed e-learning platform. As such, GazeRecorder emerged as one of the very useful applications that can be used for that purpose.
GazeRecorder is available as desktop or Web App version and uses a webcam to produce a heat map video of the users’ eye gaze. The web version of the software can be used on desktop PC with webcam, laptops or any smartphone with a front camera. Its accuracy is comparable to the solutions which use infrared light to identify pupil positions and meets desired levels indicated in literature[v]. Once logged in the application (https://app.gazerecorder.com/Study/Login/), researchers can create a study comprising of either image which user will look at or a webpage through which users will navigate.
As such, we believe that this solution could be quite helpful for analysing usage of collaborative CAD tools and provide more detailed insights about the way designers collaborate.
