Official start of 1st ELPID course
ELPID course is an international design project-based course that will serve as a validation and testing mechanism for e-learning platform and accompanying methodology being developed. Within this course, students will work on innovative engineering design projects in collaboration with industrial partners within distributed and virtual environment. By using developed e-learning platform in these courses, students will go through concept, embodiment and detail design phase of their product development projects. This course is organised by universities in Zagreb, Ljubljana, Vienna and Milan, but in tight cooperation with an industrial partner. This year’s industrial partner is BSH Hausgeräte (https://www.bsh-group.com/si/) from Slovenia.
The project task is:
In daily kitchen tasks a variety of waste is created. Their removal can cause number of problems including space requirements, hygiene risks and aesthetic devaluation of space. Household waste, which we currently sort mostly in the kitchen, can be divided into four major groups: packaging, bio-waste, paper and residual (mixed) waste.
The main task of the project would be to develop a solution (conceptual design or a prototype) of a device for the treatment of one or more types of waste, which would reduce the waste volume and improve the hygiene aspects such as smell and appearance. Smaller volume of waste requires less space in the kitchen and leads to easier and cheaper transportation.
